- Recruited the first Board of Directors
- Established the constitution and organisational values
- Established connections with researchers, clinicians, peers and support organisations

- Prepared a submission the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System
Spring 2020
Achieved:
- Completed and approved the constitution
- Registered Through the Unexpected Ltd with ASIC
- Developed connections with researchers, clinicians and peers
- Applied for ACNC registration as a health promotion charity
- Strengthened governance and operations through the development of policies, procedures and the risk framework
Summer 2020 - 2021
Achieved:
- Registration with ACNC as a Health Promotion Charity
- ATO endorsement as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR)
- Engaged our first Master of Social Work student for placement
- Developed frameworks and plans for several exciting projects
- Applied for funding for those exciting projects
- Connected with people with the lived experience of receiving a prenatal diagnosis
Autumn 2021
Achieved:
- Presented a session at the Australian College of Midwives event “Working with Women Who…” about supporting parents who have received a prenatal diagnosis (available for members to view)
- Developed and launched our temporary website directory of patient support organisations, glossary, guidelines and links to find support
- Supported the first Mental Health Professionals Network online meeting, connecting professionals around Australia to discuss improving the experience of prenatal diagnosis
Winter 2021
Achieved:
- Published an article in the Australian College of Midwives Magazine that goes out for 5000 members
- Expanded website resources and links
- Determined priorities and our strategic plan for the next 18 months
- Hosted the second Prenatal Diagnosis and Mental Health MHPN Online Network meeting
- The Prenatal Diagnosis and Mental Health MHPN Online Network grew to 330 professionals
- Invited to an advisory board for an ARC-funded research project
Spring 2021
Achieved (so far):
- Hosted the third Prenatal Diagnosis and Mental Health MHPN Online Network meeting
- Presented at the GV Health Perinatal ECHO
- Provided feedback on guidelines
- Prepared our first Annual Report
